Ice Sculpture Perish

Dimensions: 3.82m x 1.2m x 1.6m

Appropriately named Perish, this sculptural work reflects the plight to save an endangered fish species on Ningaloo reef. Commissioned by Woodside for World Oceans Day, the sculpture endeavours to bring a closer focus to how a single extinction of a species is an enormous loss, and can also endanger the rest of the reef. Taking three months to mould and only three hours to melt, this work showcases how fragile our environment can be and the perils of ocean acidification. As ice turn to water, a clear reflection is obtained, showing the viewer their own face watching on as the fish perish.
