Calvin Chee - Environmental Artist

Kite flying workshop 2013

The Kite making and flying festival engaged all age groups to come and try their hand at making and flying their own kites, constructed and designed with the help of the artist. The Connecting South Lake group sponsored the event along with support and funding from City of Cockburn.

The event fabricated kites from scratch with raw bamboo twines and waxed paper for minimum weight and environmental impact. The workshops shared methods that have been much forgotten by the current generation. Many of the kids and adults that took part in the workshop event were determined to create something person, which they could then enjoy and recreate again at home.
